Anuk had gone off on his own for once, no big sister to tail behind him and keep him from getting distracted. He had originally planned to try and step foot into town again, but had distracted himself when he came across the slew of abandoned houses. Bare feet moved carefully across the thick grass, unable to help stick to the shadows as he was aware skin-walkers lived around here. The boy was well aware he was an outcast and would rather not have cold hearted slurs thrown at him in english before being chased out by someone turning into a bear or other terrifying beast. These thoughts left his mind though as he peered in through a broken window. This house looked to simply be deserted, but as red-brown eyes looked inside, he could see many objects had been left behind.
Checking his surroundings one more time, Anuk climbed in through the window, his senses unsure of what to make of the peeling wooden floorboards under his feet. He walked around carefully, trying not to twitch with reaching for his bow and arrow. All his senses were on high alert as he ventured deeper into the building. As he kept moving though, Anuk couldn't help to be fascinated by the items humans had left behind in this building. There were countless pieces of furniture, tattered paintings, broken technologies Anuk had never seen before. He couldn't help stuffing some of the slightly damaged cloth he found draped over a bed into his bag, knowing he or his siblings could make use of it somehow. The boy couldn't help to stop in one room though, eyes going wide as there was a bookshelf that seemed for the most part intact. He rushed over to it, picking through titles, many of which he had never seen before. He checked how much room he had in his bag before grabbing a few of the worn out books, putting them in his bag to take home and hopefully keep hidden from Ajit long enough to read them. He grabbed one more book, choosing to start reading one where he stood, the title "twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" having drawn him in for some reason. His mind couldn't help but to sink into the book some, expression alight even as he was seeming to devour the words on the page in relative peace.
